Dedicated iPhone fans were allowed to start lining up at five Friday morning at Apple's Ala Moana store.

"Missed out on the Wii, missed out on the PS3 and the XBox 360 and figured this would be worth my time," said Sean Chai.

Many Apple workers passed out free coffee. Fans showed off their iPhone spirit and entertained themselves with "other" gadgets til the big moment came.

"I'm going to have a blast with this. I'm going to use the maps and all the applications with this," said Spencer Haverkorst.

Whether you're playing games or checking stocks, these iPhone lovers swear by this new phone. With only two stores, Kahala Mall and Ala Moana Center serving Hawaii , neighbor island folks are coming over to get their hands on one too.

"I had a Blackberry a year ago, and this is such a better device. I'm an Apple employee from 10 years ago so, you know. We love this. It's a great thing," said Walter Haverkorst.

Visitors from the mainland even got in on the action.

"Well we knew in LA is was going to be nuts. there're alot of At&T and Apple stores over there and you're not going to get one. So we figured this was our chance. even though we're on vacation. Let's see if we can go grab one," said Aldofo Herreira.

The faster iPhones' lower $199 price tag was a steal compared to last year's $600 original. Some think it's recession proof.

"My checks as far as residual checks came in, tax rebates, state rebates, the whole nine yards so I had enough money to play with," said Aldofo Herreira.

The downside of thousands of iPhones selling across 22 countries Friday, a traffic jam on the iTunes website to activate the phones, but fans took it in stride.

"They're telling us as soon as we walk in the door, that there might be that problem. You don't care...Well, what are you gonna do. if you want it, you want it," said Ken Logsdon.
